Project Overview
Modern social media platforms are designed for infinite engagement, often trapping users in "doomscrolling" loops—compulsively consuming negative news that leads to anxiety and mental exhaustion.
Scroll-o-doro is a conceptual "Healthy Scrolling" companion. It acts as a mindful layer over social media as an attempt to break the doomscrolling loop.
The app integrates a pomodoro technique (an interval timer) for scrolling hence the name "Scroll-o-doro."

Project Goals
Business Goal: To increase sustained engagement and positive user sentiment by helping users manage social media time through supportive, non-judgmental interventions that encourage mindful usage rather than restriction.
User Goal: To stay aware of time while scrolling by receiving gentle, non-guilt-inducing reminders that prompt reflection and support intentional decisions about continuing or stopping.
The Challenges
Designing a reminder that is noticeable enough to break a habit but subtle enough not to be deleted by a frustrated user.
Notify the user with a supportive tone that promotes reflection, not guilt.
The Solutions
Apply the Pomodoro technique to break the doomscrolling loop by having 45 minutes of scrolling time and 15 seconds of break time.
The "Pause" Prompt: A soft-focus overlay that and encourages a break countdown for 15 seconds.
During the break time, the user can gain control by deciding whether to continue scrolling or be done scrolling.
To contrast the high-stress content of doomscrolling, I utilized a Liquid Glass aesthetic which creates a soft, meditative interface that feels 'alive' yet calming—guiding the user toward a state of reflection rather than digital overstimulation.
